Exotic Recap: Bali Exotic Marine Park’s Conservation Achievements in 2020
DENPASAR, BALI (15 Desember 2020) – Bali Exotic Marine Park (BEMP) proudly announces significant achievements in the field of conservation and animal welfare throughout 2020. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, BEMP’s dedication and hard work in conducting rescues and other conservation activities remained unwavering. BEMP remains committed to protecting and preserving marine life while raising public awareness about the importance of conservation.
Throughout 2020, BEMP mobilized three rescue missions to respond to dolphins stranded around Bali coastline. This includes one animal on Mertasari beach (20 May 2020), one on Padang Galak beach (9 September 2020), and another one on Nusa Dua beach (19 October 2020 ). Despite receiving intensive medical care, the animals could not be saved. In addition, BEMP participated in the release of 19 turtles confiscated by the police and entrusted to the Turtle Conservation and Education Center (TCEC) in Serangan. This event was part of rehabilitation efforts to return the turtles to the sea and ensure they could live freely and reproduce naturally.
Bali Exotic Marine Park’s Conservation Achievements in 2020
To commemorate Conservation Day, BEMP organized a beach cleanup event on 11th August 2020, involving more than 70 volunteers, despite pandemic restrictions. During this event, 1,000 turtle hatchlings were released into the sea as a symbol of BEMP’s commitment to turtle conservation efforts. Additionally, BEMP continued to improve the facilities and artificial habitats for the animals in their care. The animal health program was enhanced with the addition of experienced medical staff and veterinarians, and a balanced nutrition program tailored to the animals’ specific needs was developed. These improvements ensure that the animals receive the highest standard of care, promoting their well-being and supporting their rehabilitation. Through these concerted efforts, BEMP demonstrates its unwavering commitment to marine conservation and animal welfare, inspiring others to join in the vital work of protecting our planet’s precious marine life.
