The Inauguration Ceremony of Bali Exotic Marine Park!
DENPASAR, BALI (19 September 2019) – Bali Exotic Marine Park (BEMP) held its grand inauguration ceremony, marking a significant milestone as a beacon of marine conservation and education in Bali. The event was graced by the Director General of Conservation of Natural Resources and Ecosystems (Dirjen KSDAE) representing the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of Indonesia, Ir. Wiratno, MSc., who officially opened the park by signing a commemorative plaque and cutting the ribbon. Also in attendance were key figures in the environmental and tourism sectors, including the Director General of KSDAE, Provincial Senator (DPRD), as well as conservationists and local community leaders.
Ida Bagus Putu Agastya, President Director of Bali Exotic Marine Park, emphasized the park’s mission: “The establishment of Bali Exotic Marine Park is fundamentally to educate the public through direct interaction with marine mammals, particularly dolphins.” This facility is intended to serve as a conservation center aimed at rescue, rehabilitation, and eventually releasing animals back into their natural habitats where appropriate.
BEMP is equipped with extensive facilities to ensure the welfare of its marine residents. These include a 748-square-meter interactive pool, two holding pools, a quarantine pool (MedBay), and a MiniLab. With these facilities, BEMP is well-positioned to contribute to conservation efforts in Bali and promote sustainable tourism as a legitimate conservation institution.
Minister of Environment and Forestry of Indonesia, Siti Nurbaya, in her speech delivered by Dirjen KSDAE Ir. Wiratno, MSc., expressed her support for the opening of Bali Exotic Marine Park. She noted that all licensing processes and criteria were completed comprehensively, despite taking a considerable amount of time.
