Natural Resources Conservation Center

BKSDA (Natural Resources Conservation Agency) was established by the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture under Decree Number 428/Kpts/Org/7/1978 on June 10, 1978. The agency oversees the management of conservation areas, nature reserves, and tourism forests.

Nowadays, the agency expands its role to also serve as a supervisory body, BKSDA plays a crucial role in guiding conservation institutions like BEMP through oversight, training, and partnership. Their collaboration extends to animal rescues, ensuring ethical practices and adherence to conservation standards, reinforcing our commitment to marine conservation and wildlife protection.

Yayasan Garda Satwa Samudra

The Marine Guard Foundation is a student-led non-profit organisation who pioneered our Marine Mammal Care Internship program at BEMP. Together, we had trained over 100+ undergrad students from all over Indonesia from various faculties. The foundation upholds three main pillars: rescue – research – education.

Indonesian Zoos and Aquariums Association (IZAA)

Indonesian Zoos and Aquariums Association (IZAA) is a non-profit zoo community professional organization. IZAA aims to strengthen the relationship and collaboration among zoo managerial in Indonesia, to achieve a professional zoo management that playing an active roles in conservation, education, research, and as a recreation site, as well as involving in wildlife and habitat conservation and protection in Indonesia..

To rally the harmonious actions of members in development and enhancement of zoo conservation society. 

MISSION

  • As an ex-situ conservation organization which represents zoo society in Indonesia.

  • To catalyze the effort in achieving the organisation’s purposes.

  • As a facility in which its members cooperate in carrying out their function in terms of professional consultation, information, communication, and coordination.

  • As a place which facilitates partnership between Indonesian zoos and government, non-government organizations at either national or international level in order to achieve the stated goals.

  • As a government institution partner, to improve the zoo husbandry in optimum condition.

ORGANISATION STATUS

  • PKBSI is a non-profit organisation that was found in Jakarta on November 5th 1969 from the initiatives of several zoo well known figures in Indonesia.
  • PKBSI is the professional organisation and the only one zoo association organisation in Indonesia, that is a partner with the central and local government.
